Get ready for The Raise
A podcast that sheds light on the fundraising efforts of pre-seed and seed stage Founders.
Hey all 👋🏾
This newsletter was meant to be a side-project as I fundraise, mainly to help other Founders, like myself, who have no idea where to start.
But, I’ve also realised that, as great as it is to share my journey with others, there are Founders who have already been through the trenches and closed a funding round in this tough economic climate, and there is plenty that we can learn from them.
That said, I’m launching a podcast called The Raise where I’ll be interviewing pre-seed and seed stage Founders who have closed a round in the last 12-months.🎉
Why should I tune in?
To learn about fundraising from Founders who have closed a round.
I’ll be interviewing pre-seed and seed stage founders from a range of different start-ups (health tech, climate tech, HR etc) across the globe, to give you a well-rounded view of what it means to raise money right now.
We’ll uncover everything from how and why each Founder decided to launch their company to the best and worst parts of their latest fundraise.
Who are you interviewing?
We have some great guests lined up, including:
Millie Marconi & Kat Suy from Yesterday (going live on 30th April)
Cecily Motley from Motley
Danae Maragouthakis from Yoxly
All of these founders have closed $250k+ pre-seed rounds in different parts of the world (from the USA to the UK and Australia). So, they have well and truly fought through one of the most challenging times to fundraise in the last decade.
I’m also open to taking guest recommendations — if you know any Founders who have closed a round, just reply to this email with their name, LinkedIn profile, and I’ll take care of the rest.
How will the newsletter change?
Good question. Here’s what to expect:
You’ll continue to get an email once a week, every Tuesday.
My 240 Days fundraising updates will be published once a fortnight (e.g. next week and again on the 7th May)
You’ll now get an episode of The Raise once a fortnight (Episode 1 will drop on the 30th April)
So, the calendar looks something like this…
And that’s it! As always, feel free to reply to this email if you have any questions, thoughts or feedback. Looking forward to sharing the first episode with you!
Best
J
