Welcome to 240 Days to Raise 💰🚀
A newsletter that will document a play-by-play approach to fundraising
Hey there 👋🏾,
I’m Jade, founder of a beauty booking platform called Mane Hook-Up.
Like many people, I’ve always wondered what start-ups go through as they’re fundraising. We live in a world where we often see the outcome (e.g. Company X has raised £2m 👀) and the opportunities that follow, but rarely the process, challenges and pains that happen behind the scenes with fundraising. With all eyes on start-ups, after the hard work is done and money is in the bank, it’s tough for people like me (who are building a business) to go into fundraising knowing what to expect.
So, in a bid to help anyone that’s raising now (or thinking about doing it in the future), I’m sharing my journey publicly, and giving myself 240 days — roughly 8 months — to do it.
Yes, you read that right. 240 days.
Sensing this is where most of you either think I’m wildly overconfident or absolutely nuts to hold myself to that. But I think the countdown makes things more interesting for both of us (I get the constant sense of urgency and you get to join me for the ride).
Interested? Hit the subscribe button below and you’ll get weekly updates of my progress.
Sounds great, but who is this newsletter for?
Good question, this will be most useful for:
Founders: who are in the process of fundraising (or thinking about it) and have no idea what to do
Aspiring Founders: who want to know what they could be signing themselves up for 😅
Anyone else: who just wants to come along for the ride! All support is welcomed 🙏🏾
OK, so what will you cover?
Each week, you’ll get to see…
🔋 A progress recap — an overview of what has/hasn’t been achieved each week and how this is likely to have an impact on the raise.
💡 All of my lessons learned — whether it’s a win or a fail, I’ll reveal the biggest lessons of the week to help as many of you take steps forward (and avoid taking unnecessary steps back).
🧰 Recommendations for your founders’ toolbox — tools and apps are my thing, so look out for reviews and recommendations for any tools that find a permanent place in my work routine.
🤔 Q&A — feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I’ll answer as many as possible in each newsletter.
How often will you post an update?
Every week on a Monday evening. The first week of each month will feature a short review of the month, to let you know if I’m on track, progressing or off track.
Anything else I need to know?
Not really! I’m just keen to make this as helpful to Founders as possible, so subscribe to stay up to date with my progress and drop any questions that you have in the comments 👇🏾
